Not IRCTC, not Indian Railways

RailwayHelper is an independent, educational website: it explains Indian Railways booking rules and works out dates, and it is not an official railway website.

RailwayHelper is an independent website. It is not run by, endorsed by or connected to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), Indian Railways, the Ministry of Railways, CRIS or any zonal railway. We do not sell tickets, take payments for travel or see your bookings. Book only on irctc.co.in, the IRCTC Rail Connect app, an authorised agent or a reservation counter.

IRCTC, Indian Railways and train names are the names of their owners and are used here only to describe what the IRCTC 60 days calculator and the other tools calculate.

Dates, times and charges

Every rule we use comes from a Railway Board circular, an IRCTC page or a government statement, listed on how we check the rules. Rules change, sometimes with a few days' notice, and individual trains can have their own limits. Always check the date, time and fare on IRCTC before you plan around it.

The refund and Tatkal charge figures are estimates from the published tables. The amount IRCTC actually charges or refunds is the one that counts.

Reminders

Reminders are a free convenience sent by email or phone notification. Messages can be delayed, filtered as spam or blocked by your phone or provider, and a service outage can stop them. Do not rely on a reminder alone for a booking that matters; add the opening time to your own calendar as well. We are not responsible for a missed booking, a waitlisted ticket or any loss that follows.

How we store and delete reminder data is in the privacy policy.

Photos and data

Photographs are by Wikimedia Commons contributors under their licences, credited on the about page. Station names, codes and zones come from OpenStreetMap (ODbL). If you find a mistake, write to myrailwayhelper@gmail.com and we will check it the same day.
