Multiple date calculator
Up to five journey dates, every opening day at once.
| Journey | Booking opens | Tatkal |
|---|
General quota at 08:00 IST, Tatkal at 10:00 (AC) and 11:00 (non-AC). Reminders for any of them.
When this helps
A trip out and back, a wedding with guests arriving on different days, or three candidate dates you are choosing between: see every opening day side by side, then book the earliest-closing one first.
Dates follow the day the train leaves its first station. The booking calendar lists a whole month, and the return trip planner makes one calendar file for two dates.
Who this is for
Anyone whose travel date is not fixed. The calculator takes a range of journey dates and shows the booking day for each, with today's status, so you can see which of your options is already open, which opens this morning, and which you still have to wait for.
The common case is a family visit where any day in a week works. Enter the week; the page shows seven booking days. Usually two or three are already open, which means you can book right now instead of waiting for the "ideal" date and racing everyone else at 08:00.
The second case is a cancelled or waitlisted booking. If your preferred date is WL 30, the neighbouring dates are a day or two either side and their windows are open too. Checking them one at a time on IRCTC means seven searches; here they are on one screen, with the dates in a format you can paste into the IRCTC search.
Reading the status column
Open means the booking day has passed, so the date can be booked right now, subject to availability on your train. Today means the window opens at 08:00 this morning. In n days means the booking day is still ahead; set a reminder from that row. Past is a journey date that has already gone by.
The dates follow the advance reservation period of 60 days with the journey date not counted. If your train leaves its first station the day before you board, set the switch to 1 day earlier before reading the column, or every row will be a day late.
Combining with other tools
Once a date is chosen, the IRCTC ticket date calculator gives the single answer with a calendar file and a reminder form. For a round trip the return trip planner handles both legs. If one of the dates falls in a festival week, the festival pages say which specific days are the crush.
A last practical note: IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, the Indian Railways booking website and app) shows availability for a train across 6 days in one search (the Other Dates view). Use the multiple date calculator to know which of those days are bookable, then one IRCTC search to compare availability across them.
Questions people ask
What does the multiple date calculator show?
For each journey date you enter, up to five at a time, the day general booking opens, 60 days earlier at 08:00 IST, and the Tatkal day, sorted by date.
Why do dates in one week open on different days?
Each journey date opens exactly 60 days before itself, so journeys on consecutive days open on consecutive days.
Does it work if my train starts a day earlier?
Yes. Set "Your train left its first station" to 1, 2 or 3 days earlier and every date moves back by the same number of days.
